My wife and I attended our first 500 this year and had a great time. My strongest impression was that what you see on TV is NOTHING like being there! The size of the venue, the noise, and the sheer speed just don't come through on TV. Television coverage gives the impression that pretty much anybody could handle one of those cars, but seeing them live makes you understand what gifted drivers even the 'slow' ones are!
